The Rat
(A Post-Modernist Poem Found in an Underground
Silo in Nebraska)
Materials: 1 laser; 1 Rat; gasoline.
Instructions: Place the laser & the rat at the proper
equal distances. Treat the rat with gasoline. Beam
the laser to burn the rat. Watch the rat struggle as
it burns.
Variant Readings: Impale the rat, but don’t kill it.
Stick the rat’s head up a cat’s ass. Beam the laser.
Watch the cat jump.
Translator’s Note: This poem was found in a partially
charred & sealed silo. Several skeletons of rats &
cats were found as well as that of a human. There was
no oxygen in the chamber at the time of opening.
