My Relationship with the TV
I remember once when we had a TV in Kabul. We used to watch various programmes and I quite remember that when the cartoon about the wolf and the rabbit was on, my brother used to cry and run away believing that the wolf would come after him.
Then the war intensified and we had to leave Kabul to a countryside where there was no electricity as such and I used to miss the TV and draw pictures of the TV when I became lonely.
When in England, I used to watch TV sometimes. The first time I watched nightly TV was when I had a dispute with staff in the children’s home where I lived and I watched BBC news 24.
When in foster homes, the TV slowly became my best friend and like my foster carer. I started to watch much more of the TV.
When in London, I started becoming a couch potato and watched TV all night long. I hopped through channels and watched the digital channels.
Then I became hospitalised and thought that the TV talked to me. As this continued, I became more and more distanced from the TV.
Today, I only really watch the Simpsons and I cannot bring myself to watch any other TV programmes and I fall asleep in front of the TV.
