Untitled
She hurtles into the clearing, dogs at her heels
The party’s over, the game is up
The sun god’s tearing off his toga
Blazing in self righteous rape
Ice leaves trickle apart
Furry feet fall on forest floor
She slenders round a sapling and
Escapes his singular force one time more
His bad breath dragons round her tree
Blows on the back of her neck.
Oh Mother Gaia, he wants to keep me
from happy hunting to load me down
with ruggerspeak son,
make his pad sweet for him if he ever comes home,
spear my chase with his lord’s supremacy
Oh Gaia, oh mother earth
oh empty bus stop at the dead of night
oh no money for a taxi
oh pick up the phone, damn you, I know you’re there....
My feet begin to melt, roots grow from my soles
Feel through the friable earth, worm their way through
Humus and fallen leaves and the white tap root
Thrusts round igneous rocks in search of table water.
My arms fork, sprout twigs,
My fingers flatten, fuse into leaves, green hands,
And in the air my crown is topped
With singing birds.
