Your heart is hanging there,
a tarred albatross
strung between the Fiddlers
and the Catalogue Discount Store:
a caution to slow moving traffic
not to stall.
Like the Irish, Kashmiris, Eritreans,
you no longer seek a passage home
but on rainy days
your hair tastes of brine,
legs compensate for listing kerbs.
Your brolly becomes a jib
tugging you some place bluer:
uncharted ocean,
its name not yet anchored
in paper or tongue.
A place you need faith
to look at the stars.
