Judy And The Gannets
clever girl, said
she was going to America to talk,
twenty minutes it was about
gannets, black-wing-tipped fierce-
feeding birds bit
of a fowl-talk-fest - but
hold it just there no
it’s not your bone and flesh
fowl but booky birds, birds
in twitchers’ tomes, not only
them - text, fonts, layout, in fact
the whole design shebang looked at
as a means of purposive
communication, variations over time of
course - and my interest was requited she
did not kiss, but gave
me, the paper*, all the jargon, in
a polypocket (multimodality, diachronic
description, graphical
differentiation and all
the rest) but hey! it’s a bird
book - pictures, some text, I mean, what’s
this all about - clever
girl
