Transparent Current: Haiku from the Inaugural World Haiku Association Conference
Transparent Current: Haiku from the Inaugural World Haiku Association Conference, ed Ban’ya Natsuishi, English translations by Fay Aoyagi and Jim Kacian, Ginyu Press, Japan 2000 ISBN 4-87944-038-8, limp cover, price (including postage) US$8.00
From 1-3 September 2000 (the precise 61st anniversary of the outbreak of World War II) 31 people (23 Japanese, 2 Slovenes, 1 American, 1 Frenchman, 1 Croat, 1 Belgian, 1 Russian and 1 from UK) met in Tolmin, Slovenia, founded the World Haiku Association and wrote haiku together. In his foreword, Mr Natsuishi describes the event as epoch-making. This nicely produced volume is the tangible outcome so far. Some sample verses from roughly each tenth page, English versions only:-
