Asleep Almost
Exhausted, there’s nothing to do,
but sit here, and be.
Drinking glass
after glass
of water.
Listening
to classical music
on the radio.
Wrapped up in a dressing-gown,
warm by the lamp.
Waiting now till it’s late enough
to sleep.
Tomorrow,
another day in work.
The night passes.
The owl screams.
The dog lies dreaming
on the floor.
He’s got the right idea.
This moment passes.
We dream.
