The Profligate
Too softly they
enwound you from
their knees to
their chins
drawing you in
to their small
spaces making
your senses swim
The sliding torrent
of the body
took you
Down down with
it you went
I used to
envy you Now
I flounder at
the rim where
a young wife
alert and worried
plunges her hand
in and dissolves
the faces They
drift through walls
and doors implacable
as ghosts
trailing their long
insomnias behind them
their bitter flesh
