Bride of Glomdale
Yes I like ten o’clock mass. Yes I like
whiskey in my tea. Yes I like a photo
I’ve seen of Eurydice being rowed
across the Styx. (Actually, it might be
Psyche rowing Cupid, or none of these).
It’s a still from a Danish film called
‘The Bride of Glomdale’. Their world seems all
ghostlike, haunted. Their world is themed
like literature’s black squall.
They row through it.
The same essay has a picture of Janet Leigh,
dancing for George Sidney in
‘Bye Bye Birdy’ of 1963.
