Dawn At Easedale Tarn
Peace is born here each new day
where the seeds of tranquillity are sown,
so when you come, come at dawn and come alone.
Here you will find the solitude
from which others may hide
in the quiet of this mountainside.
Here Wordsworth, Coleridge and Dorothy sat
with porridge, pasties and home brewed beer
alone, but together, high above Grasmere.
Streams tumble over time smoothed stones,
water cool, fresh and pure
before pipes, fluoride and chemicals more.
Perhaps here on the seventh day He found repose
after six days of creative toil.
So tarry in Easedale if you need to find
purity to restore the polluted mind.
(A favourite picnic spot for the Wordsworths and friends in the Lake District)
