adverts going through the stations.

Promise with (all we can see of
her is her eyes) more to come, or
that’s what we’re meant to believe.
This professional Madonna would
give us the business, the music;
& now she’s a mother, promise
to fight like the tigress against
The Judgements of Social Workers.
If Jesus finds it good enough,
what gives them the right to decide
you can’t have a baby in the
garage behind the pub? Granted
it doesn’t comply with building
regulations, and over the years
various architects have drawn
sketches, artists impressions, cut-
-away structural cross-sections,
so by now we’re sufficiently used
to the scene. Refugee Mother
