Crafts

And when I got home there was this toad
sitting on the living room floor.
I shouted to Reg but he was busy
with his fighter bomber in the shed,
so I gave it a little prod in the you know
but would it move? Not on your life.

So I got a dinner plate
and sort of rolled it on
using Reg's clothes brush handle,
and it just sat there, so I thought
well, it’s not every day, is it?
and popped it up on the mantlepiece
between the china Clydesdale
with its real leather harness
and the little vase,
and thought it looked quite pretty there
with its warts twinkling
among the glassware,

but next time I looked
I found it sitting like a lump of you know
under the settee.
So next I tried the fishtank
but it sank,
so then I gave it a spin in the tumble

and then hollowed it out with one of Regs craft knives
and filled it with pot-pourri.
Its upstairs in the bedroom now
next to the Lancaster.
Ever so nice it looks.
