At Midnight
the moon’s
thin smile
gutters, heaven s
black fist
tightens
and your window
gapes - no one
is out there, no one
is struggling to breathe
in, out,
listening for heartbeats,
dying
and all you want now
is someone
to hold
out the night,
to be told
you are beautiful.
