Memorial Do -
I wonder if
they’d have found it
too close to home
to contemplate?
the cattle trucks
of the dispossessed
of the unprovided for
of the destitute
of the downtrodden
and the cast-off
frantically trundling
through England
this very night
for invisible
destinations
and we turn away
from the hugely staring
eyes just as we did
in the thirties
to concentrate
on other things -
like collecting stamps.
