Leaving your mark
It wouldn’t take many
to carry the coffin
if you got a belt of
industrial strength juice.
Andy, the electrician, told me that.
He remembered a death in
this quiet market town where
a young lad, alone, met
an appalling end.
‘Human error’ must have figured
large in the inevitable report.
Lessons no doubt might be learned.
By now we might find ourselves
wondering just who told his family
and what they said.
But one thing I can tell you,
Andy was right.
All that remained
was a ring and
one gold tooth.
