Semper Augustus
A life’s wage on broken flowers, claws
in future dust. Make sport
the wind trade. Weak with beauty
she can change her face.
Stabilise purple and gold, beneath her care
admit one to the outlaw
lost and sold. A relish
neither fish nor flesh.
The richest needle interjects
a contrast medium: dye.
Her only study is to please,
allow her sleep.
Watchman, into the pit of salt:
the storm will gather in time.
The pit will have no dimension.
You are bodily changed. An amalgam.
The cause by all was to the white assigned
who chose a higher primate for an incubus:
a viral star acts in the passive air,
blasting a polder fuse.
Love was blind drunk. Hate fled the press in silence
and bought it in the tunnel with all principals.
They bailed his chest out, labeled the dreck heart’s blood
and blamed the victim.
Flash animates the flaming tulip cheeks
and lily mottle agents grill key witnesses.
The Queen is dead. Pretenders fork the garden.
