I’m a long-legged
slit-eyed cat
with a snake’s tail.
I’ve extended my legs
to giant size. You
can skedaddle through
my white arches.
My ears are flat
as an angel's wings.
I loom large
in your landscape of dreams –
the phantom on the path,
the masked temptress,
a cat whose soft paws harden
to cloven bone.
