Tony Conran and Haiku
Now in his seventies, Tony Conran is one of the most outstanding and prolific of Welsh poets writing in English. He is noteworthy for his use of traditional Welsh material in his radical engagement with social and political issues. For him the poet’s role is as a creator of cultural coherence and community, rather than as the expression of private feelings marketed as a commodity.
