Echoes
Go early, as I do,
abandon your car
on the lower slopes
and let the mist
wrap around you
as you stride out
towards the clouds.
At the summit
stop and turn,
watch the yellow lights
from the town
slowly switch on the day.
Then cup your hands,
shout out all those things
you’ve always wanted to say
and wait for the mountains
to bounce your defiance to the Worid.
