A Caring Soul
Reasoning, x-rayed,
Looked right at,
Then straight through,
Inspected and quarantined
And starting with you.
A soul left cold and open,
Wounds left wide yet bare,
A reflection of a lifetime
For which there was no care.
An open doorway used for sleeping,
A bowl to beg for food,
Yet everyone is ignoring you,
But you know that they’re not rude.
Ignorance it is called,
In a world so full of bliss
Yet the people who need love and care
Sometimes go amiss.
A soul left cold and open,
Wounds so wide yet bare,
A reflection of a lifetime,
For which there was no care.
A damp and foisted blanket
That you found within a bin,
To help to keep you warm,
As your body is frail and thin.
Your joints are stiff and cranky
From the doorway and the cold,
And you know the reality is
Before your time you’re growing old.
Was this the plan you made,
Pre-organised before you began,
To sleep within a doorway,
And to view the souls of man?
A soul left cold and open,
Wounds so wide yet bare,
A reflection of a lifetime,
For which there was no care.
No care or recognition,
That your soul it did exist,
Yet when it comes to judgment day,
Will everyone insist
It was me that tried to help you
But you argued and refused,
You blamed me for your hurt and pain,
And your soul that was mis-used.
So when you see me in your doorway,
Do not be ignorant and stare,
Please just smile at me friendly,
Just acknowledge that you care.
A soul left cold and open,
Wounds so wide yet bare,
A reflection of a lifetime
For which there was no care.
