The way you came to me
on Appletree Carn, silhouetted, balancing
bubbly, two fluted glasses...
What else? Oh yes! The way the birds flew
through the darkening sky. The way the cows
lay down – warm boulders in the field below,
a coral band of light on the horizon and
the way your arms encircled mine. Such warmth!
We watched the sun embrace the moon
over Saffron Bay. Her dark head lay
on his bright heart a moment only.
For us – a lifetime.
Two worlds turned upside down!
Everything new and ringed with gold.
