Allegro Ma Non Troppo
Insufficient evidence of all things
curtails a predisposition towards something or other -
or you might say, ‘carnt get it on man’.
Here at the beginning of the end
the rain all afternoon surreptitiously
drives me into one pub after another
my heavy earthen body surrounded
by the light fantastic young slurping
at snake bite . . . a half of long life this day
golden despite the grey rain wet streets outside.
Wine and whisky makes you feel frisky -
I hear above the resounding throng the box
telling of, oddly a national dog strike
and the psychiatrists union refusing to save the mind
that seems to be filling with water.
Drinking to this and to the girl
thats a work of arse on my left
I reflect on the transitory nature of all things
on snake bite and psychiatrists dogs drowning
a long life because they carnt get it on -
on works or arse having a predisposition towards
an evidently insufficient something or other.
As signalman Freud once said, It aint
vat you do mine hairy, its all down to
joy, big as the balls of Hercules.
