Wednesday
Wednesday, again.
On Wednesdays they come
for the wheelie bins.
On Wednesdays
the Library closes all day,
and the Post Office
from one o’clock.
Which means the Post Mistress
cannot exchange her books
on her half-holiday.
On the first Wednesday
of every month
the Writing Circle meets.
We get together and read
one another’s works,
then adjourn
to the Dog and Gun,
which is best known
for its blonde barmaid.
But she has her night off
on Wednesdays.
