He's turned into a nice young man.
Dad's busy with his leeks and onions.
Mam's pegging another rag rug.
Our Ron got the sack from Swann's
for swearing at the foreman.
Everything is just the same.
I went to the Essoldo the other night.
Saw a Bing Crosby flick with Doris Maplebeck.
your old pal, Tommy Kew, sat next to me
halfway though. What a cheek!
He saw me home through the blackout.
I wish it had been you, my darling.
Remember our first date at the Ritz?
We saw Now Voyager. You laughed when I cried.
There's a new band at the Palais -
Sonny Gent and his Gentlemen.
So it's on with my glad rags come Friday night.
You know how much I love music.
If only we were together again
there'd be You in my arms and a tear in my eye.
Got to close now, my darling.
Mam wants the table for supper.
I will write again soon. Promise.
