Old Man Dreaming of Women
The only advantage of more time to sleep
is the women who arrive within the dreams.
They let you unwrap them slowly. They slip
off their songs and let you take your time.
They don’t expect heroics and you can keep
repeating the best bits which are frankly
at the very beginning. They let you arrange
your fantasies and never hurry. There are no
telephones or postmen with deliveries from
Readers Digest and the dogs never get
in on the act. There is this opulence
of taking all the time it takes. The
buttons pop open like petals. The
zipper is like a blade of grass between
the teeth. All the clocks have stopped.
