Mozart at his Birth
All his life
he carved his art
backwards
to his birth song;
that perfect chord
of notes as hands
rushed a blanket
round his frail body.
The rain
strummed the windows,
feet hurrying became
percussion instruments.
The heaviness of water
falling into a bowl
captured as a fountain.
Deep in the bed-rock
of his creativity,
pulsed on his first breath
Mozart fixed these sounds
before voice cadences.
The musical variations
rarely understood
even by musicians.
