Jack Black’s a bit of a lad
quick with jokes and witty
so when, back from Bangok
charred by the sun, he streams
into The Reaper, his malignacy
is marked by friends
who saw him in September
picking his allotment’s harvest.
The fruit was early this year
or maybe the season’s calliope
is turning faster. Dark humour
comes easy as brambles catch
and twist around the wrists.
The berries were abundant
more than he could pick
but grubs that spoil the treasure
are digging in the flesh.
