Where Shadows Hide At Night
Where shadows hide at night
in muted towns
he stood behind the window pane
reflections in his eyes;
an image of himself
in fading neon lights
and rain approaching from the hills
that rise only in his mind.
And he hears his heart
pounding on the foggy pane
and he puts his palm against it
searching for his pulse.
Later on the rain began
washing him away.
