Midnight
By my Astral Power
I am willing Doreen Peasland,
who lives at No. 37,
to levitate
and float out through her bedroom window,
which she always keeps wide open
due to her adenoids,
and into my back bedroom
here at No. 25.
I always have my window shut
due to the low nocturnal temperatures
prevailing in this part of Kettering
throughout the winter,
but it’s pushed up ready now
for Doreen to come sailing through
in her nightie and no knickers.
It takes enormous concentration
to keep a human body
suspended in the air
at low nocturnal temperatures.
Let alone propel one
over five back gardens
at an altitude of fifteen feet.
As she’s passing over Mr Nunnley’s compost heap
at No. 29
I get this brainwave
for altering my Hornby layout.
