A Poem About Peter Who Took His Eye Out
When Peter took his eye out
it silenced the classroom.
He did it to get attention
so he did it often.
Sometimes he did his
One Eyed Old Git act
and sometimes he just sat there
waiting for someone to notice.
Once he simply left it
on the desk top when
he went out for a slash.
Did he want somebody
to hide it? Did he want
to have it confiscated?
Would we write poems
and try to get them into
the school magazine?
That would make him famous
and he’d appear in Blue Peter
and tell them that he kept
it in at night so that
he could see with it in
his dreams.
