Landscape: Morecambe Bay
A distance
in the closeness of sands,
is like
the figure crouched
by the white bird, baitdigging.
The bowl of brown and blue
beach, white shells with arch of sky
and the burnished jasper
of blue silver sheen, the sea
between and the anemone flowers
and a silty, cloyed scent
with seaweed fronds, blow
in this dry moving, tendrils
waft through ocean whispers
deep secrets crossing
these sands.
