I leave her at school -
along the river bank
ducks are sleeping
ship sails
past the harbour
across the moon
the last tourist -
now wild honeysuckle’s scent
deepens
on the day
of your first laugh
this sunset
Granny
sharpening her knife
on the old brick wall
maternity ward -
my window reflection
cradles a baby
late August
wind from the east
my daughter can’t sleep
our pram
in the charity shop -
you touch the handle
her first day at school
I lean my head against
the portacabin
