A System of Tubes
Pricking heat,
Blood heat
In a clinical mind,
Floating in ice my dear
When I should be swimming in
Your eyes.
Crashed stars,
Atoms running away from the blackness,
Down my face like year old nose blood
On white satin.
Floating on January ocean,
Muddy aqua, beautiful bite,
When I am swimming around your body.
When I am in you,
A mass of blood red organs,
The heart, the bed of emotion,
Reduced to a bloody mass of tubes and tissue
In textbooks,
And an indistinguishable mess on a
Dissection board.
A feather floating from your pillow
To follow with my eyes,
Until out of sight.
A flake of your lily skin
On the surface of weekdays,
And another to delicately replace it
When you are next in this room.
Running through the pouring rain,
Dripping from the nose that can smell you
Out of any crowd,
Dripping down and soaking me in acid
When I touch your fingers
Through a system of tubes.
