Those Four Corners
imagination is stilted between four corners
cant seem to make angles or holes to push me out
I want to look at the grass that turns blue
feel it at my fingertips and wonder how grass can feel so itchy
my bare feet long to wander and walk up hilltops
will there be an ocean beyond?
I am stuck in this rut of four corners
born of complacency
I yearn to be shook up out of my reverie
kick down the walls that have become barriers
I don’t want to be safe while I roam
I want to touch the dirt that muddies up my dreams
so that I can pout and make a ruckus
scream all kinds of expletives until I turn inside out
play with my mind so that I can break free
of this bondage of four corners
so that my imagination can work overtime
who wants to sit idle while the world revolves
let it spin me out of control
I refuse to spend any more time within those four corners.
