Not for Her
Shift of the world,
displaced footfall
on moving concrete.
Contamination of
touch, taste, memory.
Cross examination,
analysis, interrogation
of volumes drafted
in lead. Disclosure
by omission,
suffocating each
risen hour, sneering
at the closed face
of sleep without
intermission.
Flesh in numb flesh,
passable base chafing
for moments of hale,
marked as the worst
by some. But not for her.
Her lesser death was
pump of unsullied
emotion from the heart
onto the empty sheet.
Penned for someone,
but not for her.
