For this final editorial, all that remains is for me to express my gratitude to all who made it possible. Firstly to Steven Waling and Emma-Jane Arkady who, with Angela Topping, helped develop the concept from an unguarded remark at a poetry workshop, and went on to establish the magazine as its first co-editors. Later, when Emma-Jane had to resign, Steven and I were joined by Francesca Pridham. To all of them I am deeply indebted.

But a poetry magazine, can only be as good as the poetry it attracts, and in this respect, I must thank our contributors, many of whom have consistently submitted their best work to Brando's Hat. In fact we had to make a rule about leaving a year before accepting further work, as we feared becoming a house magazine for a small group of favourite poets - and we were always trying to extend the net, to attract the many good poets who are out there somewhere and those yet to be discovered. That above all was the joy of editing the magazine - the envelope dropping through the door with the new voice, perhaps no more than an apprentice poet, but recognisably genuine. Such moments made the effort immensely worth while.

A word of thanks is also due to our subscribers, many of whom have remained faithful to us since that first issue and especially to those who have written letters of encouragement and support. As one subscriber put it 'Brando's Hat is the one I keep looking out for coming through the door, keep it coming.' I regret that we can no longer do that.
