This World Cultural Monument is now of great renown: a concretion of nacre formed in a shell - a paragon of virtues none can excel. Perhaps they heard the first emissary declare upon the hills “O linda situacao para uma vila” WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PLACE FOR A TOWN. And saw for themselves the extravagance of ornament and grandiose design - that which is known as “Brazilian baroque" with its elegant adornment and arabesque style: rough pearls whose edges have been worked on for a while.
