Welcome to the new Pen Pusher Magazine. We have been working busily away since last year to bring you this bigger, better and even more glorious PP.
You may have noticed our tagline: ‘Where new writing finds its voice’. Pen Pusher has always given talented writers a place to shine. With the relaunch of the magazine and our brilliant, more interactive website (www.penpushermagazine.co.uk), we’re hoping that we will be able to provide an even better home for the very best new writing.
So, although we’ve got some more famous names involved – an exclusive interview with Simon Callow; thoughts on writing from award-winning and Booker-shortlisted novelist, Jon McGregor; and contributions from Hugo Williams, Simon Munnery, Niven Govinden and Josie Long – our main focus is still on bringing you the best new fiction and poetry from writers you may well not have heard of.
As part of this, look out for our new ‘Featured Author’ section where we showcase the talents of an up-and-coming author who we think will be making a big impact on the literary world in the future. This issue we are very proud to be featuring the first chapter of Pia Chatterjee’s (as-yet unpublished) novel Unreal City. (The PP faithful will remember her excellent short story ‘My Stalker’ from issue 10.)
We also have a new artist’s portfolio in the very centre of the magazine. This issue we are featuring the incredible work of Michael Constantine, who also drew the portrait of Simon Callow on page 12.
There’s just time for a quick thank you to the London Word Festival team with whom we worked on the fabulous The Golden Fib competition. It’s been a great pleasure working with LWF, and we think you’ll enjoy the results of our collaboration (see page 62).
Nota bene: we will now be publishing the magazine three times a year, our website will keep growing and adding more interactive features so you can really engage with PP on the net, and we will be available to buy from selected stockists in London and via subscription (see page 68, if you’d like to sign up and save over 10 per cent).
We really hope you enjoy this new issue. As always, we’d like to know what you think…
From,
Pen Pusher
