Angela Cooke
Snow
She waits in the garden
until the dangerous orange sun
has disappeared. Snow flakes
zigzag slow motion
caress her eyelids - melt,
change to tears. Those touching
earth lose themselves.
Snow turns to rain
heavy enough to drench
the crackling leaves around her feet,
to wash away the debris of her life.
As she waits, she fingers
the smooth seams of her dull years
while night imprisons her in silence.
Thin clouds smother the anxious moon.
