Lyneth Hinds
Up Until the Snowfall
Up until the snowfall and the black dog bark,
the duty to take pleasure from the readiness
and heightened touch of the body remain.
Its dominance holds a quiet power that is proud
but burns with desire.
Feeling the value of an everlasting contact
that touch that has never received so much care
provokes an awakening of endless rejoicing
which is a surprise greater than joy.
Then came the snow thaw,
with it an outstretched longing
but already hurting are modesty and emotion,
shed a tear of defiance for tenderness and charm.
