Forest of Arden
The green and whispering forest
envelops us, sussurating with needle-song
that sighs and chuckles high above our heads.
Pine needles lie soft beneath our feet.
Chiaroscuro obscures shapes
as shifting shadows flow around us.
We walk in deep shades, bright pools
in intermittent heat and cool.
No breeze sighs down here today.
Heavy air warm and thick clogs our ears.
Time becomes sticky as we
walk on - dreamy and heat-dazed.
