No Nearing
We will never know if the great wall of silence
was built to defend, to attack or just to keep apart.
I surrender to the idiom, the enigmatic scribble,
still, meaning remains a chopstick-length away.
When climbing the wall, don't frolic or damage stones,
it was built through generations of semantic challenge,
The ideograms are blueprints of forbidden cities
built with ink seemingly doodling perplexed smiles,
or perhaps they are cricket legs knotted to indicate
sounds, all this effort to glorify a world of world wonders.
