Ponderosa Pine
The Ponderosa Pine
is decked with swollen seed,
with cones of pink and roan
where finch have come to feed.
Below the Uintah ridges,
the Tetons and Cascades,
its ginger bark is plated
in high colonnades.
The chickadees and towhees
are headed to the west,
and sow the rough Sierras
along their eastern breast.
