Joyce Williams
Full Stop
A temporary pause in the rain.
Now the moon’s reflection in the
puddle is complete.
The storm has drained her emotions.
The anger, hate, bitterness and
loneliness have dripped from her
sodden hair, off her shoulders,
down her back, through the sad ruin
of her skirt and joined the puddle
by her feet.
Empty - she stares without recognition
at the reflection.
Shows no surprise as fresh raindrops
turn the moon to space debris.
Clenched in her wet hands the ‘Decree
Absolute’ returns to pulp.
