Upon A Wedge Of Sand
Dear Heather,
I am moving from leg to leg
upon a wedge of sand;
the sorry stasis of my soul.
The fluids of THE DIAGRAM.
are moving within, all to a pattern.
This is my GREY ANATOMY.
Symptoms?
My lips pop like ulcerated grilles.
My pockets bulge with blood.
My eyes have become raw pigments washed in the nibs
of information.
The fat soaks in.
It eases me through a wall of skin.
I pass through and I’m passed by.
I surpass diagnosis.
My hand wriggles out like a fish
seeking compassion.
I am my own Parkhurst. My own black pudding.
My eyes, seized by morning, contract.
My hand reaches out from the outfall.
All is silhouette.
I am ‘yomping with mud and glory’ in the vacuum.
What had Thermos imagined?
A fate worse than this
to keep it hot, to make us cold?
Ice powders.
Is this a snow storm in a jug?
Steam diffuses.
Boots: my lips crack.
Boots: my tongue runs the maze of their tread.
Boots: my spit sparkles as all spit sparkles.
Boots: grease eases my toes to go deeper.
Boots: a sound of spectacle beneath the Y-fronts.
Boots: a flashing smile, a sea of glinting eyes.
