Her Life Beside Mine
it is nothing.
her life beside mine is in
its casual way a loveliness the two
of us are quiet about. her body
is slung around the bones
in peaceable & moving softness. beyond that
what occurs between us is
our matter. she moves beside me &
moves elsewhere, this
is only my version of it, she breathes
beside me & will move on. for the present
the two of us have a shared moment, a
dual gravitational force
not without its effect also
on those who pass near us.
her life is lovely
I say, meaning her body
beside mine & her future
loveliness is not unknown to me, though
she is no more celestial body than
I am, I can't foretell her motions.
