She closed butterfly eyelids
as she reached for my hand
in the morning’s first light
that melted fabric into flowers.
As she reached for my hand
among right-angled limbs
fabric melted into flowers
that took root in a pit.
Among right-angled limbs,
my sisters, forever young,
taking root in a pit,
tangle with algae and marigolds.
My sisters, forever young,
hug each other as their days
tangle with algae and marigolds -
linden, indigo and violet.
They hug each other as days
