Trapeze artist

Once a barrister, now she sways by her knees
on the trapeze, surrounds the expanse around her,
balances the lump and the void.
Not by acrobatics, no contortion or constriction,
chipping flicks to free the form, one leg escaping,
an arm, a self carved from molecules of air.
No manipulation. Living grounded,
eyes up to what you’ve tossed, caught, brought close,
modelling space as a web of pins and balls.
She’s her own netsuke. Consummate, light,
she releases toward ether, then returns -
and her flinging sculpts wind to wing.
