Anima and the Banyan Tree
We run for cover, toward
the shade of the Banyan tree.
Seeking shelter from the relentless caning,
of the omnipresent Orange in the sky.
We giggle as we fall
and I look into your eyes.
The bashful flutter of eyelashes
reminds me of the drumming wings
of the hummingbird.
She drills a hole closer to my mouth
leaving me vulnerable to more kisses,
subtly seeking the sweetness of first love.
The roots of these noble buds
(aristocrats of a time)
drip like oil from the ancient branches.
And, bending wisely,
replicate the gracious beauty of Cain.
So where does this leave logic?
When even my reflection teases me
showing me a substance
that simply cannot exist!
Let me soak the heat of this bark.
through which I feel the trusting smile of my
Anima.
Then let it be
illusion,
that has brought me the greatest joy.
