Cinema
Moulded in white, the cinema
Sped gracefully upwards,
Scattering the houses to dullness,
And the shops, and the wet streets.
Red and green were the neons
That startled in the sky,
Diffusing a glow of friendship
And warmth to the watchers.
Brilliant with light, the foyer
Crowded to the front,
Exhibiting its wares, and samples
Sat framed on the wall.
Patient with time stood the queue,
Yet restless in talk and eye
For the moment of movement,
When they would escape from themselves.
